I’m eXa, a Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer. I started my career at 16 under the name Nessa, with songs like Mine Tonight, Calling Me, My Pressure, and What Would You Do receiving radio play and taking me on tour across Canada.
As my career evolved, I began releasing music under Nessa Roque, shifting more into songwriting and collaboration. Over the years I’ve worked with producers and artists including members of Swizz Beatz’s team, Noel Cadastre, Realmind, Billboard, and King Alex Beats, while continuing to develop my craft through songwriting camps around the world, including in Paris, Atlanta, and Montreal.
During that era I also explored music through visual storytelling, creating a short film with Productions Up for the Nessa Roque project and being the voice behind MAYA KODES, a large-scale hologram performance project that blended music and virtual performance before digital artists became mainstream.
I also performed background vocals connected to the Whitney Houston film soundtrack alongside Ian and Thunderpuss.
Today I release music under the name eXa, focusing on building a diverse and growing catalog designed for film, television, and advertising. My music is currently represented through collaborations with Hard Music Group, SoundSync, and Steele Sync, and I continue expanding my catalog with the goal of creating music that connects emotionally while naturally translating to screen.
